Alec Smith

Alec is a Cape Town-based professional photographer with a keen eye for capturing moments that tell

compelling visual stories. With over 40 years of experience behind the lens, Alec has honed his craft in

diverse photographic genres. Alec left the corporate world to join the photography industry professionally in

2014.

His work spans portraiture, model portfolios, event coverage, yacht racing, fashion photography, wildlife,

and street photography.

If not on assignment, his passions include sailing, wild empty places, or exploring with a camera in hand. He

is always in pursuit of striking imagery.

Alec holds a Diploma in Photography from The Photography Institute and has degrees in architecture and

computer science that inform his approach to composition, technical matters and visual aesthetics.
