My name is Julie Shadwell, born and bred in the vibrant city of Durban. From a very young age, I have always been an entertainer at heart and a true people’s person. Growing up as the youngest of eight siblings — including step and half brothers and sisters — shaped my strong sense of family, resilience, and connection with others.

I am the proud mother of my seven-year-old daughter, Nadine, who is truly the light of my life. She inspires me daily, and I simply adore her.

Music has always been my greatest passion. As far back as I can remember, my dream was to sing and perform on stage. Over the years, I have had the privilege of doing opening acts for several well-known Afrikaans artists, including Steve Hofmeyr, Riaan Benadé, Bok van Blerk, Dodo, and Appel, to name a few. These experiences confirmed that the stage is where I feel most alive.

My love for music was deeply influenced by my late mother, who took us to dances every Saturday night. Through those special moments, I learned ballroom dancing, Latin American styles, and line dancing — all of which further shaped my passion for performance and entertainment.

I was also a contestant on popular South African television music programmes Noot vir Noot and Musiek Roulette, the sister show to Noot vir Noot, marking exciting milestones in my musical journey.

For several years, I was part of a girl/guy musical duo called Joyride. Sadly, this chapter came to an end when my music partner passed away due to Covid in 2021. Out of respect and heartbreak, his guitar remained in its case — until 13 January 2026, when I finally took it out again to let his guitar play music once more. That moment marked a powerful and emotional turning point in my return to music.

I am currently back in studio recording my very first single, which is set to be released in February 2026 — a new beginning built on passion, healing, and purpose.

Professionally, I am employed at the ATKV Natalia Holiday Resort in Illovo Beach, where I work as a Human Resources Officer. In 2025, I proudly graduated with an NQF Level 7 qualification in Human Resource Management. I am dedicated to continuous growth and plan to further my studies in Labour Law in the coming year.

Whether in the workplace or on stage, I bring heart, authenticity, and commitment into everything I do. My journey is one of resilience, remembrance, and rediscovering my voice — allowing music to live on, not only for myself, but for those who inspired me along the way.
