Football
I loved soccer as a child and when I moved to Durban to finish High School, I ended up playing for a local football club (Forest Hills) until Covid struck and then I left the city and moved permanently to the Drakensberg for 3 years, so I sadly left the club.

Cooking
I am a very competent cook as I grew up in a busy backpackers lodge and was frequently roped into working in the kitchen.

Veggie Gardening
Again I was put to work as a child, assisting with the organic vegetable patch. I learnt to drive the tractor from knee high, but as I grew older I began helping to plan and plant. This is where my great interest in medicinal plants and teas comes from.

Entertaining Guests
In the last few years I have spent a lot of time entertaining guests (especially the foreign volunteers and gap year students.) Listening to their tales about far off places has stimulated my interested in politics and Geography.

Festival Work
Our Backpackers Lodge hosted the Smoking Dragon Festival each New Year. 5000 people would visit us at a time. We were involved with everything from driving vehicles, helping with waste, to making wood - fired pizza till the early hours. I got to listen to a lot of live music and met loads of musicians.
