Gerhard Odendaal, affectionately known by the nickname “Vaatjie”, is a South African actor, comedian, and singer who became widely recognised in the Afrikaans entertainment industry for his portrayal of Vaatjie Visagie in the popular kykNET comedy series, Molly & Wors.
The nickname, “Vaatjie”, stuck as the iconic and lovable, humorous figure from Molly & Wors became so closely associated with Odendaal that many South Africans know him primarily by that nickname rather than his full name.
Gerhard studied drama under Milla Louw, where he earned his licentiate qualification. During his training, acclaimed filmmaker Willie Esterhuizen recognised his talent and offered him opportunities to act in his productions. This collaboration helped launch his career in film and television.
