Martez had taken a break from long form projects due to running MMM for 12 years and The Z Creative magazines in later years. Thanks to her daughter now all grown-up, and her wonderful booking team, she had the opportunity to work on projects away from home last year.

Having worked on a project a few years prior, with Dr. Gerhard Kotze of Amazing Grace Ministries and Grace-Force Media, they stayed in touch and decided to produce a feature with a small crew, to encourage young filmmakers to get out there and start creating their own success stories.

When award-winning writer, producer, director and actor, Regard van den Bergh, heard Gerhard’s story idea, he offered to write the script. An opportunity like this does not happen every day, and a further honour was when Martez was encouraged to still fill the director role.

The project became larger than originally planned, but their outstanding team was up for the challenge.

Martez made her feature film director’s debut in May 2024.

In addition to their producer and director roles, Gerhard and Martez played substantial roles as supporting cast.

She plays Lalie, mother with a deep secret, to lead, daughter Liza, played by Nicola Moerman.

Directing and acting was no easy fete, but with phenomenal cast and crew to work with, this incredible journey is one to remember.

In January 2025, Martez booked the role of Rebecca Hollander, a mother/sister with grit, in crime drama, Poachers Moon, written and directed by Tom Datnow, and produced by Mqondisi Ngubane ‘MQ’. 

Martez had the privilege of working with SAG nominated actor Stelio Savante, Thami Mngqolo, Leroy Gopal, Tom Datnow as her brother, Kathryn Crosby as her daughter, and kept good company with award-winning actor, Andre Jacobs and Ntando Zondi.
