Maggie Bow is South African Pinup and has been embracing the vintage inspired
lifestyle for the past 10 years. Having always been a fashion designer for over 20
years, she has always loved dressing up and from a young age was diving head first
into her play room to disappear into a fantasy world of dress up, hats, shoes and
gloves from her Granny!
Pin Up has been a way for Maggie to express on the outside how she always felt on
the inside. Being in a creative design work environment every day she is lucky enough
to be able to have bright pink hair and tattoos, and is able to dress in the pin up style
as part of her daily look. For the first time in many years she is now 100% happy with
the person she is.
“I am a curvy gal in my forties. Age doesn’t mean anything if you are happy with who
you are. I really do believe that this lifestyle keeps me young. Embrace who you are
and learn to love her”.
Over the years Maggie has given herself small goals to achieve. “Its amazing how
once you have achieved one small goal a bigger goal is that much easier to get to
and each time you can set your sights higher and higher until eventually what
seemed impossible a few years ago is suddenly something that’s well within your
reach” says Maggie.
Today Maggie Bow has been published in almost 20 international Pin Up Magazines
(UK & USA) as Maggie Bow the pinup as well as publications in South Africa, local
Magazines, newspapers and various blogs as business owner AND pinup specializing
in the vintage inspired culture.
She has been interviewed on the South African Magazine TV show Top Billing (SABC3)
& KykyNet (DSTV) as a pin up stylist/business owner, and more recently, appeared as
a stylist and pin up expert on “Die Skatties” (a TV Pin Up make over show screened on
DSTV/ Via TV).
Maggie is a true Entrepreneur and runs her own vintage inspired online store
(Retrospective.co.za), her two clothing brands Miss Happ & Boot Hill and is the person
behind the Hair Care Range, Parade Hair - a range of products specific to vintage
hair styling. And when the occasion calls, she is also a photographer, vintage hair
stylist, and pin up/vintage inspired fashion stylist. An all round gal!
If there is a Rockin' event happening in SA, keep a look out for this bright haired pin
up sporting her colourful tattoos and of course her fabulous Miss Happ wardrobe.
When she hits the road is usually in her Starlight Black 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400, and
don’t ever feel shy to come over and have a chat, she loves meeting new people
and chatting about things she is passionate about.
